SALT LAKE CITY -- The Forgotten Carols, the popular holiday stage production by recording artist Michael McLean, returns to Utah this December during its ninth performance season. A Christmas tradition for thousands of fans, The Forgotten Carols tells the story of a young nurse named Constance who sees the holidays as a meaningless distraction vet comes to find the spirit of Christmas in a most extraordinary way. Constance's story unfolds as she learns from her patient John of Christmas stories forgotten over the centuries. It is these stories, and the forgotten carols through which the stories are illustrated, that stir Constance to finally find Christmas in her heart. McLean's musical stage show, while adding eight new carols to the world of beautiful Christmas music, delivers a message of spirituality that is perfectly in keeping with the season, yet has appeal to | people of all ages, denominations and nationalities. Katie Thompson will take the role of Constance. Thompson's previous work includes the role of Sariah/Jane in the McLean musical The Ark and on its accompanying soundtrack album. She is also the featured vocalist on Safe Harbors, McLean's 20th album, released in October 1999 by Shadow Mountain. Sales of The Forgotten Carols storybook, soundtrack CD and cassette and gift-sets, all released by Shadow Mountain, a division of Deseret Book, which is producing the show, have topped 350,000 units.
